I have a wideband internet connection (cable) which is a lot faster than the dial-up connection I use to get on my work intranet. When I'm dialed in, I would still like to get to the internet through my LAN, but all my Internet Explorer, ftp, etc, goes through the dial-up.

Is there a way I can choose which network adapter to use when I start up Internet Explorer, Outlook, or other programs that access the internet?

thanks!

From within IE, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections. On this tab, set it to Never Dial a Connection. This way, it wont dial your dialup connection, and will instead use your Cable connection that is already on.

I wasn't totally clear. I'm already dialed into my office, but I want to use Internet Explorer with the cable modem. So I have two network connections, both active at the same time, and I want to choose which one to use each time I go to Internet Explorer.

Possible?

You are already dialed in using the company intranet. And you want to use your current cable lan connection instead of the modem speed correct?

Check if you company is using proxy, if so, you can define from connection tab, or download a copy of the ultimate ieprofiler from www.download.com,

If your company is not using proxy server, I would only suggest you use your lan when you are not using your company intranet

There is another way, but it all depends on your company set up. Use VPN, by internet connection to your company intranet. Again, that you have to talk to your network administrator at work.
