I'm a NT 4.0 server network with some 2000 pro wrkstn. I'm running a certain application that will only run if I have Domain Admin rights. Once I take the rights away the application errors out and I can't get in.
Any ideas what could be causing this and a fix ?
THANKS

yea. the idea is, that some apps need admin right to run.

Thanks, but that doesn't solve my problem. It will run fine on nt 4.0, but not on 2000.
read my post again.
Thanks

ok. let me know this: what app is it. where is it located. where & how do you log in when it works, and when & how you log in when it doesnt work.

It's a apps called prolaw (for accounitng) It runs from the server. Once I've installed and try to run as a regular user the apps will not run unless the user is part of the domain admin group. Now if this is a WInt 4.0 wrkstn, it will run ok without the users having to be in the domain admin group. Alls users logon into the domain.

ok, before we go on check this: if you are running the app off a server(where you said its located) its probably in a share. What error do you get? Now, check if the 2000 computers&users have rights to the share, and rights to the folders. that may be a problem. let me know the rights, and if i was right that you are accessing this app through a share on the server. also, check for the "access this computer from network" right.
also: did you properly add 2K pcs into the domain, did you create new users, or is the problem with the same user, and varies from machine to machie. Let me know, ill help.

All users have full rights to tha share and are able to browse to that share. The pcs have been added properly to the doamin. I even took them out re-run the sid change and readded them to the domain. I get an application error , unable to execute file....bla,bla,bla.
Thanks for your help.

ok. well not knowing the whole set up, unfortunately i can only say a few things. 2000 has DNS problems. that is: if you are or not using DHCP, you are using LMHOST or WINS for resolution, and you are using some form of a DNS server. sometimes 2000 in whole, or in certain parts (like running network apps) can not get to the correct place. I do not think this is the case though because you are saying that it is an application error, and not a general windwos error like "access denied". So there is one more thing left, maybe the NT4 computers have some part of the application installed that 2000 PCs dont. like runtimes. I think none of this will help, and if youre stuck, run fluke on your network, send a report and Im sure Ill figure it out.
P.S. Private message me for more.
