View Full Version : Version 6 Settings - Ignore Lists

I've been experiencing inconsistent results since I updated to version 6. I always select "Keep" all and then go through each problem one line at a time, either adding to the ignore list or selecting "delete". I noticed that sequential runs without chaning anything or making any corrections will sometimes yeild totally different results. I found that occasionally the list of ignored keys either gets lost, or contains only those items that I added to the list in the last session.

I've exchanged many emails with support on this to no avail and I think they have lost interest now. At the moment I've gone back to the previous version which works fine.

Has anyone else see this behavoir.

Regards

Dave

seem like you have added 1 file at the time, this is properly why it keep on recurring?

maybe try to edit the EXDATA file to ignore a folder rather then a specific file?

Example: c:\windows\temp\sample01.tmp

try this: c:\windows\temp\

it will ignore that folder to stop the recurring to show up

Good luck

I understand what you are saying but don't see how it applies to me literally loosing the total list of ignored files and registry keys.

when you said "QUOTE: literally loosing the total list of ignored files and registry keys.

this maybe caused by certain securities software removing it?

can you find ExData and Exkeys files then post it in here?

Can you identify what securities software you have installed on your computer?

I have attached a AVI movie file (screen recording) demonstrating the exact problem. Watch the attached which has been zipped using Winzip 10. Specifically watch the ignored registry key before and after the scan. The original value is lost when a new value is added to the database. Unfortunately I cannot get the file size down to less than 320k so I cannot upload to this board.

I've email support directly several times recently including the avi movie which demonstrates the problem. I've had no response whatsoever. Not impressed.

Did you manage to get a hold of support?

Still experiencing problems with RM?

I get the occasional email, asking me to do the same things over and over again as if they have forgotten what they asked me to do previously. I have replicated the problem on 3 machines in total (2 Win2k and 1 Xp Pro). I have recorded the screen using a utility called Wisdomsoft AutoScreenRecorder and sent them a movie showing the problem. The last email I got said they wanted me to confirm I could replicate the problem in "safe" mode, which I can. They said they would send my video through to development. I have heard nothing for 2 days now. My first problem report on this was logged 2 months ago now and I'm loosing patience with them. It's the constant attitude that their software is perfect and it "must" be you or your machine.

I've reverted back to the previous version for now which works fine, although I've yet to see it make a single recommendation other than delete.

Maybe other users don't bother with the ignore lists and blindly let RM fix all the errors. Not me, I like to look before I shoot !

Dave,

Thank-you for contacting PC Tools Technical Support.

In regard to the problem you are experiencing, I would like to advise you that our Development team are aware and have fixed this. However it can not be release yet until its pass our QA Department to make sure it is 100% before release.

I will let you know as soon as I have any information regarding this fix.

Registry Mechanic should work without any problem, if you wish to add any new entries to the ignore database I would suggest you make a copy of the old entries below adding.

Please reply to this email if you require any further assistance.

I had an email confirmation that this bug was verified and it would be fixed with an update, but that was a long long time ago and I've heard nothing despite sending another email to support.

Hi DaveGarratt,

I have followed this up and can confirm that a new build of Registry Mechanic will be released towards the end of February or early March which addresses this issue.

Will let you know once this happens.
