I setup a W'98 workgroup, enabled file & print sharing. I have a Laptop within the workgroup that will not let me add printers. When I try to use the printer wizard to add a network printer the wizard just hangs, actually the wizard does not even appear to start!
Only 2 PCs in the workgroup, a laptop and a desktop.
I have shared the printer that the laptop hosts and the desktop has no problem printing to it.
Any ideas?

The 'laptop hosts' a printer and can't install a networked printer? You shouldn't need a networked printer installation if it is physically connected to the laptop. Sharing the printer implies it is connected to the laptop and otherwise working properly. Sharing allows OTHER computers to print to that printer once it is properly installed as a Local Printer.
I have a Laser attached to a WinXP Pro computer and an InkJet attached to a Win98SE computer on a 5-port peer-to-peer network and 3 computers and 2 notebooks can print to either printer.
But maybe I am reading the problem wrong.

I need access to the printer hosted by the desktop PC. The main problem is that the Printer Wizard should not hang. This is the real problem. I cannot even get to the second screen in the wizard which will allow me the choice of a local printer or network printer.

My $.02:
(And that may be a generous estimate.)
I've gotten to where I avoid using the Wizard altogether because I couldn't get it to work half the time. This is the easiest way I've found:
If the printer in question has sharing enabled then you should see it by browsing your Network Neighborhood and opening its host machine/server. Then just double-click the printer icon and Win98 will tell you that you have to install it first. Sometimes, depending on how new the printer is, the install is automatic. If not, just have your drivers extracted and waiting and direct the install process to them. Unlike the tempermental wizard, I have yet to have this method fail me (unless of course I've done something stupid, but that don't count.).

Thank you I will try this method and let you know if it's the fix I need.
