Cannot find dos .exe file

Hi,

I have been trying to get my old dos games to work on WinXP SP1. After double clicking on one of the old dos .exe files, nothing happens. Running the file from the command line reveals "The system cannot find the file abc.exe" even though it is clearly there with a size of almost 400k.

I assume this is a windows bug as many of my older games do it even though they are supposed to be XP compatible. Can anybody help?
