I've lost my tool bar in my internet explorer. I need help in retoring it. I tried to download another version, but it keeps giving me an error that I need a proxy. My internet provider tells me they do not use proxy's and doesn't understand why I can not download to restore. I would appreciate any help

sweitzer,

Speaking of restore, you could use System Restore to take your computer back to an earlier date before you lost the toolbar.

Also, have you tried to Repair IE? Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Internet Explorer. Click on IE and you will get three options, amongst them, Repair IE.

Check back here, though, as the others have far more experience than I & may be able to offer you further advice.

If you go to View > Toolbars in Internet Explorer, can you recheck the one you're missing?

If it is checked, it's probably just hiding behind another one, and you'll need to find it.

Or is "lock toolbars" checked? Uncheck it, and see whether you can dig your missing toolbar up somewhere.

Reinstalling or upgrading IE 's probably not going to fix this.

BTW, the error you're getting is a generic one, and doesn't have anything to do with proxy settings as such.
