I'm using Regedit, trying to delete all entries having to do with my Saitek game controller, so I can install some new drivers. I keep running into "Cannot delete (filename): Error deleting registry key." I'm new to XP, and this never happened to me in 98; what do I do?

Are you the Administrator or do you have admin privileges. If you are, alter what "Permissions" you have when you right-click the Keys in the Registry.
If your not Admin, just check what "Permissions" you do have when you righ-click a Key.

I'm a newbie, take it easy on me

Hi,
I am having a similiar problem with a game that seems to have left a non-Deletable Registry entry. No matter what I try, it will not Delete. Have changed everything I can think of.

I have Win XP pro with sp1.

Were you able to resolve your problem ?? If so, please pass that solution on to me if you would please !!

Sammydad1,

Have you tried deleting it/them while in Safe Mode.

Good luck,

mswantak,

Another alternative:

You could also right-click on My Computer, choose properties, click the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button. Choose Show Hidden devices from the menu, and double-click on the Non Plug-N-Play drivers and remove it here.
