I have broadband connection (Telewest UK) running Windows XP on a network. Whenever I try to download a file I get the message :
"Internet Explorer cannot download .... from .....
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."
I am not aware of any Firewall running; I have tried modifying Security to low in Internet Options. No success. Does anyone have any suggestion? Thanks in anticipation.

If you can browse the net and send/receive email but just can't download .exe files it most likely your nic card. You'll have to replace it with a new one (that's on XP's HCL list) to test.
Also, you could move it to a diffferent slot in the motherboard and try again. However, I have run into the .exe problem in the past and the fix was a nice swap.
