Hi,

What exactly is the problem you're experiencing?

[b]It's a long story but basically 2 of my winsock files are missing i dont remember what they are at the moment but i just recently installed SBC yahoo DSL and their software corrupted my computer, ive called tech support but they didnt help much so i had to troubleshoot on my own. IE doesnt open any webpages on my Dial up account either, thats how i narrowed it down to Winsock because ive checked my settings in the control panel under "network" and they seem to be just fine. so my theory is that corrupted Winsock files are causing the problem. How do you mean, 2 of your Winsock files are missing?

Windows 98 has these two, among others:

1) C:\Windows\Winsock.dll
2) C:\Windows\System\Wsock32.dll

The latter could possibly be corrupted, although that's far from certain.

Please do two things, and after doing those, please report back.

1) Restore the original version of Wsock32.dll from your Windows CD-ROM to your Windows\System directory:

2) Run the Lavasoft Winsock fix to repair possible Registry damage:

Tell us how you make out.

Good luck, Tony
