Saving Desktop setting? (W98)

I have a question about saving Desktop Setting. Every time my pc got messed up and went to safe mode, and came back, the icons on the desktop icons are all over. Is there anyway or a file that I can save so that next time the icons got screwed up, I will be able to restore it back.. your advise is appreciated...

There's a program called DIPS that comes with the book "Advanced Windows" that I also found here</font color=red>[/b] (http://www.gollatz.net/index.php?download><font). There's also this little freeware I found here</font color=red> (http://www.gollatz.net/index.php?download>[b]<font). Personally, I've never had a machine get so messed up that this minor issue became a problem to be solved. If it were me, I'd fix whatever was necessitating my forays into Safe Mode...
