I have a laptop and a PC both with win 98 SE and I want to transfer some files over LAN. I have a crossover cable and both comps have TCP/IP installed and running. When I turn on the comps and login I can ping either computer from the other but I cannot see either in network neighbourhood. On the lap when i open NetHood the PC is displayed there but when i double click to see the shared files I get a message saying that the resource im tryin to access does not exits.
can anyone help me??

Do you have File and Printer Sharing enabled in Network on both?

yea I do.
I really cant see anything wrong.
Everytime I try to make my comp connect to another via LAN it dosent work for about 3 days. Then after [censored] around for ages and changing settings on and off it works .
This annoys me so much. What could be going wrong. is there a simple way for me to transfer files from my comp to the laptop through dos.?
