What happens if I delete the hiberfil.sys file that is located in the root of my Harddisk?

What is the function of the hiberfil.sys file, someone can explain it to me.?

It seems to be associated with hibernate.

You may not want to delete it if you use the hibernate feature on WinNt/2000/XP.
