Hey (Dont ask me how i have NO IDEA!)
My Kernel32.dll has been infected with a virus (Sad Day huh).
Well on windows 98 SE, theres a "File Replace" option in system information.
Not On 2k?
If there is? Where?
I tried to "Backup" a copy of the file from My CD, and then "Restore" to my C:\Winnt\system32 but it wouldnt overwrite it?
Ne help plz (:@ at stupid virus ppl!!!)
Tnx

To overwrite the file I think you will have to get hold of a windows 98 bootdisk, boot from that then you will be able to overwrite - unless of course your file system is NTFS.
Have you tried running SFC (system file checker)?
Hope this helps a little...

OK the thing is ( Feels Dumb )
It was called "Kernel32.dlI and not kernel32.dlL
So it kinda "Caught me".
So i have actually got rid of the "Virus" thankfully (Stupid Little Twats who send ppl virus!)
But: If ne fing like this happens again, and it is an actuall System File it infects (Hopefully it wont) How do i do it ?
And im working with a NTFS Filing System yeah,
And i don't have a "System File Checker"?
"File System Verifcation Checker" is all i have?
Im logged in As "Administrator" too...
And i don't have my Windows 98 Boot Disk ne more either?
I Had 2k Installed from a fresh format ("To Get rid of old s**t i had on") So it was better to convert to the "Space Saving" file system.
Thanks.
Wayne
