form fields (W98)

I have created some forms in Word 97 that I use at work. The firm fields are a very pale blue-gray. The button on the foms toolbar only toggles the form field color off or on in the light blue. Is there a registry or other method to permanently change the form field color to blue or red or some other color? if so how is this done?
