View Full Version : Active Desktop Safe Mode (W2K)
Hi,
I'm working in an environment where explorer.exe is repeatedly terminated and reloaded, and every time is does this, the "Active Desktop Safe Mode" background appears. It's annoying always having to click restore desktop. I'm wondering if there is a registry tweak enabled to disable active desktop safe mode?
Thanks
j2k,
What about going into Folder Options/General Tab and unchecking Enable Web content on my destop. Then put a check in the box that says Use Windows classic desktop, or words to that effect. Obviously, this will get rid of the Active Desktop, but maybe that will help your problem with explorer.exe, too.
I have WinMe, but I imagine W2K has similar settings.

Hi there,
Thanks for that but my desktop requires information from a webpage which autoupdates, hence the need for active desktop, it's just the safe mode message which i would like to remove.
Thanks
j2k,
Sorry, I can't help you with that.
Keep checking back here, though as there are far more experienced people here that can likely help you.
