In the Start menu, when I select the Programs menu, it doesn't show everything. It shows some folders and programs that I have recently, then the rest are hidden, and can be revealed by clicking on the double arrow at the bottom of the menu. This is really, really annoying. How do I turn it off so that it shows all the programs all the time?

Here's Simon's offering.

It didn't seem to work. A friend of mine told me that XP has a way to turn it off without editing the registery.

If your friend knows that much, doesn't he know how to accomplish it??

You could try a search engine for third party programs.

Maybe this is what you're looking for, but it's still a registry tweak. You can change that, so you have two columns instead.

Or, you could do this: Taskbar & Start Menu Properties > Start Menu > Customize > Advanced & untick "Scroll Programs". /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

mranonymous,

Right click the taskbar.
On the general tab, uncheck Use personalized menus.

Are you using the classic start menu?

As Nana said,

Right click the start button & choose properties then Customize.

Scroll down to Use Customized Menus & untick the box

DanK,

Different wording from different generations of Windows, is it? MS sure likes to keep us on our toes, don't they?

Couldn't agree with you more Nana, just MS's way of making things awkward /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif

Personalised Menus don't work with the XP start menu, the classic one needs to be selected.

DanK,

One of these fine days I might buy XP and learn all this other stuff first hand. OTOH, I'm probably better sticking with what I have until I know it inside, outside, upside down.

I must be more peculiar than I thought. /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif I really like the personalized/customized programme menu.
