You may have to re-install QVP and note the various choices. The default installation adds Quick View, Quick Print, and Quick Compress to the right-click menu in Windows Explorer.
We all, each of us, have a uniqueness, some of us enjoy it, some of us don't.

ooo nah i don't want all them!
I've recently re-installed my OS......b4 i did that i managed 2 create a key in the registry which enabled an option in the right click menu to use 'QuickViewPlus' 4 every file type....
I know it can be done.....but how?
I know by default it creates those keys when u install it......but i chose not 2.......don't wanna clog my right click menu up with all that crap....
I just want that 1 option above! :-)

Ok no problem!
Once you've installed QuickView Plus open 'regedit'
Go to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*
Expand the folder and add a new key called 'shell' like this: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell
Now under the newly created 'shell' create another key called 'view' like this: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\view
Now set the default value of 'view' to equal 'QuickView Plus' or whatever you want.
Now under the key 'view' create another key called 'command' like this: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\view\command
Set the default value of 'command' to equal 'C:\Program Files\Quick View Plus\Program\qvp32.exe %1'
And thats it! you will now have an entry in your right click menu of every file type which equals 'QuickView Plus' :-D

Thanks, that went into my How-To file.

Bert,
I looked in my registry at the key being discussed in this thread.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\open
The value is "Open With Notepad"
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\open\command
The value here is "notepad.exe %1"
I have a question about this.
Is this the key that got added/altered when I did the tweak you suggested to add Open With Notepad to the right click context menu in Windows Explorer?

Yep.
This is the regfile in question:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\notepad]
@="&Notepad"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\notepad\command]
@="notepad.exe %1"
Normally the Shell subkey isn't there, and this tweak adds the shell\notepad\command subkeys.

Being of [somewhat dubiously] sound mind, I was sleeping when you wrote and was answered, but my answer would have been Yes.

Tony & Bert,
Thank you both, gentlemen, for your prompt reply. I'm getting a little better at guessing the things I find in the registry, but I still need confirmation.
Bert, I should have been in la-la land as well but I guess my mind is dubiously unsound. In fact, let's remove 'dubiously' from the sentence altogether! /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

Just as long as you don't remove the 'mind'.

Bert,
I guess my 'dubiously unsound' got caught up last night & most of today. Here I am - very late in the afternoon - finally up & at it, the mind functioning on all 8 cylinders again.
