Immediately after installing Spyware Doctor I lost the ability to change the Background Picture on my Desktop.

My OS is Windows XP (Home).

Normally there are a few different ways to change the background picture on XP. Through the Control Panel > Appearance & Themes > Display... then select a picture from the list, select method of display (tile, stretch, center). Alternatively, one can simply go to a list of pictures and right-click on one and then select Set as Background.

None of those methods work. In the Control Panel none of the options are selectable... that is, I can't scroll the list of pictures, I can't select a picture and I can't select the display method. Right-clicking a picture and selecting Set as Background does nothing.

Is there something in Spyware Doctor preventing this from working properly?

Ah, I have also lost that ability and until reading your message I did not connect it with the installation of Spyware Doctor.

How to still change desktop pic? Click on the Start button in bottom left of your screen, then click on My Pictures. As necessary migrate to the desired folder. As necessary change display to Thumbnails. Click on the desired pic to select it, then right click "Set as Desktop Background". That still works!
