In Windows\System\Oobe there is allot of MSN stuff that I'm sure I dont need can I or should delete this folder & also Windows\System\Mui holds 28 sub-folders 2.4mb full of languages the only one I use is 0409 English, can I delete this. I dont think I'll be using Chinese Greek Turkish etc lol. In case you're wondering I always think about these things if you never ever use em then give em the flick, there is lots of megabytes of wasted *.dll & other stuff that you never touch. I dont use the MSN anyway. Thanks in Advance everyone.

well i think deletingt this file will not affect your computer, but its better not to do so, cause you dont know what will future technology will hold..llike for example you dont know what msn will have for the future right.... in my situation i dont use it either...i guess that only my opinion... ill just wait for those other guys that really knows the stuff about this matter.... and one more thing i usually dont make any changes that the system folder on win98.. cause it holds the files that needed for the normal start up of your computer...
Experts out there... does my ipinion is correct... if not wil someone correct me....
anyway thanks in advance for helping me too..

Hally, you can scrap the ENTIRE Oobe folder, as long as you don't use the Microsoft Network.
It's completely unneccessary.

About the Windows\System\Mui folder, it contains DLLs for Microsoft HTML Help, and you should leave that one alone.
Cheers, Tony

Hally,
I'm sure there's more, but Oobe's the really big one.
It's hard to advise without having a first hand look at your computer.
You could check Control Panel\Software add/remove\Windows Setup for Windows components you don't need and remove those.
That ought to free some disk space, abd reduce the size of your Registry as well.
It wouldn't hurt to run RegClean afterwards. Typically a lot of orphaned reg keys get left behind.

Thank you as always Tony! you've been very helpfull. . . I probably should get a bigger HDD or Computer, my current HDD is 1.19gb its not full though, still have 405mb left lol. That includes 150mb Swap File that I could reduce a bit I suppose.
