Howdy I'm Back! Just doing my weekly cleanup & while looking in Windows Explorer under Windows\System\Macromedia there is a few sub-folders but two of them named "Shock7" & "Shockwave" are exactly the same in content! they each have another sub folder named "Xtras" that have 13 files totaling 1.17mb all files are exactly the same name & size. Surely this is a double that should not be there, can I delete it? if so which one. Or maybe there is a remedy for this duplicate problem. Any help truly apreciated please

You could uninstall Shockwave player (through Control Panel/Software), and then remove what remains of the two Shockwave folders.
Also go to your Downloade Program Files Folder, and remove a possibly remaining Shockwave ActiveX control.
Now install Shockwave player again.

Tony can you believe I dont have an entry for Shockwave Player in Add\Remove Programs. In my Downloaded Program Files Folder I have a few ActiveX & one "Shockwave Flash Object" also another one with a number instead of a name "{166B1BCA-3F9C-11CF-8075-444553540000}" that doesn't look right does it. So why have I got the two identicle entries in Windows\System\Macromedia. Should I delete or hide them & then do what you said get Shockwave. I could wait until a site say's you need shockwave to view properly do you want to install.
Thanks Tony. . .

MacroMedia offers <a target="_blank" href=http://sdc.shockwave.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=SWUninstall&P2_Platform=Win32>a dedicated Shockwave Player Uninstaller</a>
Run that one, then remove the folders and the ActiveX object, and then reinstall Shockwave Player at the Macromedia site.
