You can adjust the size of the disk space used by System Restore manually.

Here's an article for ME : <a target="_blank" href=http://www.windows-help.net/windowsMe/system-restore-pf.htm>http://www.windows-help.net/windowsMe/system-restore-pf.htm</a>

actually what I would like to happen is to disable it or should I say don't wanna use it and want it's size remain to zero.

For me its only useful to people who has some trouble on their system that's always bugs them or crashes.

I don't say that my os doesn't crash but I like to be the one to fix my pc's problem. Hope you people could help me on this one and thanks.

verizon,

Here's a couple links on how to disable System Restore.

As long as you have your Me install disk, there's no need for that taking up all that space. MS has instructions on it too, btw.

I should also remind you that, you should be sure to create a startup/boot disk for your OS.

That's important for Me users, since that's the only way into DOS. If you needed to restore the registry, you'd have that on hand.

don't worry people cause before I downgrade... erm.. I mean upgrade my windows from 98 I created a 98 boot disk and I always wanted to be prepared from those problems and thanks.

And I think I got what I wanted by just deleting a key in the registry and I'm evaluating it now to know if my tweak works!

good news to u people I guess my tweak worked out fine! I have disabled the System Restore and prevented it from eating my hdd space. Here's the things that I have done to accomplish this...

1. I disabled the System Restore in the My Computer properties (didn't reboot yet)

2. open the regedit and removed this keys...
from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Services

Key: *StateMgr
String: C:\WINDOWS\System\Restore\StateMgr.exe

3. then A good full reboot fixed my problem

Hope those people who doesn't want System Restore to clutter their HDD would be a fix to this but be sure to think twice before doing this ok!

It's not necessary to remove that from the Run Services key in the registry.

Once you disable it, it won't be under Run Services any longer. It'll be under Run Services-. The registry settings will be changed accordingly. Besides, that's not the only Run key it will be under.

In other words, the instructions in those links I gave should be sufficient. It's very simple and much safer. Btw, you need to do that anyway.

I'm basically saying, this isn't a good suggestion, and it's totally unnecessary besides that!
