We have successfuly set up our home network.
We can't get ICS to work. With only the home network, the Host PC can surf the net fine!.
As soon as we install ICS the host PC no longer can access the internet.
Dailup is OK but we only get the error page in IE.
We remove ICS, re-boot and the host can surf the net again. We have tried many times following instructions to the letter. But with ICS on! the host losses capability and no client PC can access the internet. We would very much appreciate some hint, help or pointers to get internet access to all on our home network.

Hope this sheds a little light.. A friend and I tried all day to get ICS to work properly with Compaq NIC's. Finally got a "Proxy" (Proxy.exe) program from AnalogX and had my home network working in about 10 minutes. Discoverd that MS's ICS doesn't like Compaq NIC's. U might try it......

If i remember right, this is due to the proxy not being enabled on the main computer. Altho i haven't used ICS, everytime i want to send a file to my friend who have ICS would need to turn off his proxy.

Have u try going into the Internet Option from the Control Panel? After that, select the connection tab and click on the LAN setting button. On the bottom it should say something about proxy server.

Are both computers running W98? Also do you have a router or ? What makes your home network? Also you said dial up are you trying to share a dial up access or broadband.
My home network consists of a router with cable modem and W98 and WXP, I did not have to use ICS. If both computers allow for automatic IP address adn you have a router then ICS is not needed. If one computer has a newer OS than run the ICS wizard on that computer then create a disk to run it on the other pc. Hope this helps.
