I recently upgraded to win XP and after the install I have a number of problems. The first : I lost all my mp3's and avi's and MPEGS.....15 gigs of valuable stuff!!! 2nd: Windows makes me add new hardware every time I log on, but it wont register my already installed cd drives. On the device manager there is an ! next to the cd drive. When I attempt to update the drive or uninstall and reinstall, the problem persists. What Do I do? The computer tells me its a bad file in the registry... Code 19 (what ever that means) Can someone help me go in there( I understand it's dangerous) and delete it and then reinstall it or delete the bad files? The same problem happened with my cable modem... it's almost af if there are 2 copys of the same device and if i uninstall it it's still there....HELP ME!! I WOuld Prefer Not To Have To Reformat And Install XP All Over!!!!!!!

Try deleting this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Remember and export the key before deleting it so that you can add it back if it doesn't work.
