Recently animated gifs within IE have stopped being animated. I've checked the options in IE under multimedia which is checked and I've also noticed that when I right-click and do a Save As it attempts to save the file as a BMP.

If I click on an animated GIF it correctly display in Picture Viewer as an animated GIF, does anybody out there have any ideas as to what is going on?

Regards

Maybe empty Temporary Internet Files from IE, Tools, Internet Options?

Thanks for the suggestions but I have tried both of these but alas no success.

I am beginning to think that maybe some software I installed has caused this problem and a complete rebuild seems like the only option that may fix the problem which I am not looking forward to doing.

I have a laptop with XP on when I'm really bored I may run up something like reginfo and track the resistry keys the laptop and my home system calls to see if there any differences before I resort to the rebuild.

How Strange, I've had the same problem too, except I run on w2k. and the gifs haven't just stopped in IE, They also refuse to budge in Netscape. I haven't tried opera yet but I have a feeling the same result will occur, perhaps its some kind of dorky bug, have you done a virus scan recently? I haven't, perhaps I will try this, maybe you should try the same, who knows, maybe its just Micro$oft putzing up again..
