sometimes i receive virtual memory to low, i have a couple of programs open but nothing to much for a pIII 1.0 gig 256 megs of ram, compaq system.

My virtual memory seems to be set properly (near the recommand windows amount)

But i continue on a regular basis to receive message that my virtual memory is to low.

Can i go and put more then the recommand ?

Any of you have good experience with this kind of memory ?

Do you adjust your virtual memory cause your ram or your hard drive space ? ive heard people saying if you 128 megs of ram then your minimum is 128 and your max 256. Other states when you have over 20 gig of hard drive you can go ahead and put a 1gig of minimum and 1 gig as maximum.

Id like to have suggestion on how to fix this problem and also point of vue on how to set up virtual memory the best way you can.

Thx guys

I am not sure why you would be getting this message as the specificastion of your PC should be able to handle multi-tasking adequately.

I usually recommend the initial is set to the same as the amount of RAM you have and the maximum is set to three times the initial value. So in your case this would be:

Initial= 128
Max= 384

You can increase the virtual memory to whatever you like really if your HDD is big enough - it is up to you. I personally follow the rule x3 rule.
