I downloaded a 700MB file to my D drive. But i noticed that my C drive shrunk by about 700MB as well. So I tracked the location by folder size and I found that the Temporary Internet Files folder is about 900MB. But when I open it, it only contains cookies. I tried restarting, disk cleanup, and everything else I could think of to get rid of that 900MB. None of it seems to work. If anyone knows how to get rid of those files please let me know.
Thanks

What happens when you try and delete them straight from the folder? Do you get any dialog boxes appear?

Instead of using internet option to delete temporary files, did you try to go to explorer and delete directly? or try both?

Don't forget that you have to empty recycle bin.

Hope that helps

I forgot to mention that the only way that I know that the files are there is because i looked at the properties of the folder. When I open the folder there are no files besides a bunch of cookies, so I cannot delete them directly

Set the view properties to display hidden files if you like and see if this shows them all. You should be able to delete cookies with no problems at all.

You also need to look at the numerous Temporary Internet subfolders created by IE. What a pain. Can you imagine what all of those little 1KB files are doing to the File allocation table? You might want to try one of the products like pop-up stopper pro, that let you micro-manage things like pop-us, cookies, hotlinks, etc. Completely wiping out the Temporary file of all contents can cause lose of information you want, while selective retention of cookies lets you blow away everything but the ones you want to keep. A bonus is the blockage of those annoying pop-ups and pop-unders.
