Hello,

I have the following problem:

if I create a folder named 'www.xy.com' (for example) on my desktop and I enter 'www.xy.com' in my internet explorer I see the contents of that folder. If I type 'http://www.xy.com' the IE goes to the website. (same problem with favorites named with web-addresses!)

btw: same thing happens, if I enter 'www.xy.com' in the address bar in the explorer!

My Problem is, that I not want IE to open local folders (or favorites) with webnames.

thank you in advance!

(System: Windows XP pro with IE 6)

Don't have a direct solution but I have seen a number of times that IE [last few versions] will search the local drives before going out to the 'Net whenever it sees a Web-style address. Must be something tied in with TIF and 'make available offline'.

The simplest way I found to prevent it was to not use Web-style addresses for local folders. There may be another way but I haven't found it.
