I am using IE 5.5 on Win98 SE, and I just finally deleted the Openme Virus
from my system.

The only residual problem is that when I launch IE 5.5 after booting up the
system, I receive an error message stating that the program has performed an
illegal operation. I also get the following when selecting the "Detail"
button:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module FLT.DLL at 017f:021642de.

After closing this window, I receive a final window telling me that
"Microsoft IE - An error has occured in IE and will now close. If you
continue to experience problems, please restart your computer.

After closing this window, I can launch IE and surf the Internet, however, if I chose a hyperlink, the program seems to lock up.

I am now also unable to open My Computer.

Does anyone know how to solve these problems?

I tried repairing the program from the Add/Delete button in Control Panel,
but that didn't fix it. I also tried reloading the program over the
existing installed program from Microsoft.com, and this also failed to fix
the problem. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I wish I could help you as I am having similar problems. I posted on another forum, so you might want to keep an eye on it,

It does appear to be an Imesh problem.

I just found this in a newsgroup:

"Got it taken care of. Found a forum on iMesh with the answer. There
was a \FLT\ folder that I had to delete. Problem solved."

Hope it helps!

Thanks Tony -

I did install IMesh sometime back, only to delete it immediately because it seemed to cause my system to act up. I will delete the folder when I get home to see if this solves the problem.

Thanks again!

Hey Tony. Where was the folder located? Because I am having the same problem.
