I was wondering if anyone here knows how to remove certain program objects from the right click in windows 98. I have a lot of programs installed and now every time i right click to create a new folder, my system hangs up for 3 seconds and searches the hard disk for the list of objects. I really dont want all these object types listed in explorer. How can i get rid of them...
Thanks,

We kind of like to share information--especially popular questions like yours--so that's why I'm not emailing you
If you actually are talking about the subject keystroke sequence, it could be a couple of things:
1. If you want to delete items off that context menu, you have to look in two places:
a) Delete the appropriate templates stored in the \windows\shellnew folder
b) Go into the Registry and navigate to the appropriate filetype extension under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and delete (or rename) the ShellNew key. Eg, you want to delete New Netscape Hypertext Document but want to get it back later. This creates two kinds of documents: *.htm and *.html documents, so navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm\ShellNew and rename the ShellNew key to ShellNew-. Do the same for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.html\ShellNew.
2) You mentioned the delay in getting that context menu, while your hard drive gets searched. Are you sure that's what's happening? Do you get the delay after you right click, or after you select New? In any case, try the following:
a) Cut/paste the following into a reg file and merge it:
---CUT
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Update]
"UpdateMode"=hex:00,00,00,00
---CUT
b) Try setting the mousepeed to the fastest setting using TweakUI under the Mouse tab.
