View Full Version : Problem with ActiveX? (W98)

When I go to the Windows Update page for product updates, the page shows "done" but it is completely blank. I tried this with IE 5.0, I manually upgraded to 5.5 and 6.0 and had the same results. I went to another web page with ActiveX (it was a site that tested the ActiveX), I initially got the "security warning" window but then I got an empty page where the ActiveX component was supposed to appear. The test indicated that there might be a problem with VBScript in my browser.
What has stumped me is that I can't find any information on how to fix it. I have tried upgrading, uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thanks. I checked it out and tried all the suggestions, including installing JVM and I still have the same problem.
Any other ideas?

Incidentally, check whether you still have vbscript.dll in your Windows\System directory.
If you do, go to Start > run and type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
You ought to get a 'registration succeeded' notice. If you don't, tell us.
Next, do regsvr32 mshtml.dll
Good luck, Tony
