I have windows xp on my laptop which has 20 GB , 256 Ram. Now I want to partition the disk and install windows 2000 in the new partitin. Can I do that? If so please suggest me how to do the partition and install windows 2000 in partition. ( I read some where I can't install windows 2000 on windows xp machine...is that right? ). If so what I have to do to come out of that? Thanks in advance..Ravi

Hi,
You can simply install Win2K on your machine.
First you should partition your hard. The number and size of partitions depend on yourself ,but the general rull is that you shouldn't choose very small or too big partitions and you should remember that each windows needs at least 1GB. In my opinion 4 drives each 5GB will be a good choice.
Now , you just have to run the Win2K setup from your WinXP and simply choose a different partition for Win2K.
You should notice that by installing Win2000 after WinXP , the Win2000 will manage your system's boot and if you don't want that, you must install Win2000 first and then WinXP.
Goodluck!

Hi;
Sorry! I tried to install w2k on wxp but after installation, wxp didn't work anymore. I think wxp must be installed after w2k.
Thanks.

Copy the WinXP boot loader files from the i386 folder on the CD to your system root partition. Restart your PC and WinXP should work fine.
