virus has left me unable to open any program files (W98)

after finding a virus, and disposing of it i find i can no longer access any programs, including those in control panel and any other, after trying to open i get an error message that reads that vgou".exe. is missing and that it is needed in opening files(although i`ve found out this not an app from windows,it was installed afterwards, most likely an old antivirus)...i can`t use any programs or even use my restore cd any help will be greatly appreciated.........

Go to this link and download exefix08.inf
Right click on it and choose install to repair your exe association.
