My Win95, Taskbar, Toolbars menu is completely greyed-out.

The result is I cannot de/select "Address" or "Quick Launch"

What do I have to do to the registry to undo this?

Thank you, -John

delete the following registry value, log off, and then log on to the computer:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer\ClassicShell

Open control panel & double click Tweakui. Choose the IE tab and tick Shell enhancements, click ok.

You will now have full access to the toolbars

Just in case you do not have Tweakui, you can download it here</font color=blue> (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui><font).

Was this option unchecked?

Try this, open Control Panel, double-click TweakUI, your using win95 so you should have an IE4 tab, click it, click to select the IE4 enabled check box, and then click OK .

Restart your computer.

Hi, Dan!

I think that Shell Enhancements only apply to OS post Win95 and Win NT. At least, that's what my TweakUI says. The option may not even appear on John & Toni's computer.

EDIT: We were typing at the same time, Dan. Sorry for throwing in my two cents - or is that two pence?

Your probably right Nana, its has been along time since i used win95.

I'm pretty use that the IE4 tab exsists though, fingers crossed that my above solution solves the problem

Thank you. I went into TweakUI but I had not an IE 4 tab because we are using IE 5.5. There was an IE tab with no number. Under that I checked every box that there was. Then I rebooted. No go.

That option IE4 (enable) was not there. We are using IE 5.5. -John

Keep active desktop enabled for the time being.
Nana suggested that you won't have a Shell enhancement tab in tweakui is this correct?

Sorry, i said shell enhancements tab, i meant shell enhancements option under the IE tab.

Click on the IE tab & tell me whats listed

jesmej

Dan,
Under the IE tab, yes, the Shell Encancements box is clicked.
That's why I was suspecting this problem might have a registry solution.

john,
open regedit, if you find the following key, delete it HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StuckRects

jesmej

OK. I deleted the entire key. And re-booted for good measure. No improvement. -John

Hi John,
I'm not sure but i think the solution will be around the below key.

Open regedit & navigate to the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer

What is listed in the right hand plane?
