help me plzz (W98)

hello,
my problem is i cannot remove the d:\ device...
i have 2 cd-rom,cd-rw and normal cd-rom..
but in my computer shows 3 devices
d:\ , e:\ f:\
when i check in device system,it show PHANTOM vblaablaa bla...i confiusing..i dont have any cd-rom with that name..
then i click remove to remove it...the windows forced me to reboot..then after i reboot & check again..the device are still in there...
please..please..i have do too many ways..
still cannot remove that device
i still remember hows that device come..

"one day i've install one cd-rw program(forgot the name already),this program are useless then i remove it..
i have no start my pc for 2 weeks..then after 2 weeks i check my "my computer" i got 2 cd-rom devices icon..
d:\ and e:\
e:\ are my default cd-rom device but how d:\ comes into my computer..please.."

Hello sindiket,

A phantom disk drive is where a section of system memory (RAM) is set aside to hold data, just as though it were a number of disk sectors. To W98, a RAM disk looks like and functions like any other drive.

Have a look at your AV software to see if this is the culpret. Also have a look at find fast (Start>Settings>Control Panel>Find Fast) and see if this phantom drive is listed there; if it is remove it.

hi.

check if you have a ramdrive unit declared in your config.sys. if you have it remove the entry.

a question... ? when you double click the phanton unit, you see anything, o you receive a message..??
