View Full Version : HDD Controller Failure (All)
I have an "AMIBOS PC".. (American Megatrends) I have been working on it- (yes, learning-smiles). When I start up the PC..It says "HDD Controller Failure...Press F1 to RESUME".. Can anyone tell me what I've gotten myself into this time?? Thanks!!!

When you say you have been working on it what sort of things have you done?
The hard drive controller failure is reported if the HDD that was identified in the previous boot is no longer present. The first thing I would do is check that the IDE and power cables are connected to the drive properly.

I haven't actually "done" anything to the PC...I turn it on and thats what happens. I have tried looking thru the pc options etc., to see what I could find- BUT - I have not been able to get past that part when it gets right down to it.

Hopefully it's not a real HDD controller failure or you will have to replace your drive. Check that all the cables are connected properly and then reset the defaults in the BIOS and CMOS. This should get you back to a clean start where the BIOS will go out and re-enumerate the hardware.
Good luck.
