I HAVE USED THIS PROGRAM A COUPLE OF TIMES AND NOW I WOULD LIKE TO REMOVE IT BUT IT IS NOT IN MY ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM AND I CANNOT FIND ANY UNINSTALL FILE. IS IT SAFE TO REMOVE IT MANNUALLY.

To remove it, just delete it. But why??

Possibly because it doesn't tell you what it's going to do. I won't touch it, as Cleansweep prepares a list for you to select from, instead of just going Whammo!

Any changes it makes can be undone just by merging the reg file it creates back into the registry. Cleansweep will trash your system long before Regclean ever will. Why do you think Windows behaves like it just got reamed out after *cleaning* the registry with Cleansweep? You will get lots of practice formatting your hdd and reinstalling Windows. THAT will clean your registry!

I got Cleansweep the same day I got 95, which was the same day it was released in Australia. It has never trashed my registry, because I use it with care, and because I can see what it's doing.
I am aware that Regclean has an undo, but I still prefer to know what's going on, rather than find out after the event.

If you are so confident in your ability to decide what Cleansweep should delete then you don't need it. Just delete the offending keys manually using Regedit. If you don't know what to delete then how can you possibly decide if Cleansweeps recommendations are valid?
I have observed that Cleansweep marks keys that should never be deleted as safe and other keys which can and should be deleted it marks as unsafe. Of course the developers don't care.
They have your money.
Never trust an algorithm to tasks better left to your own brain.
Great reply. But this comes with learning, and I think most [I am new to this forum, but am impressed with the geeks ;-) ] of here learnt from mistakes in days past. I now sweep through the registery deleting keys left right and centre... experience... see summat I am not sure off? Leave well alone until I can suss what it does.
I am now one of the 'forgotten' group of geeks who used to spend 10 hrs on a Sat night typing in data lines consisting of hundred's of rows of Hex... only to press 'run' before saving... OK, try again, THIS time save it first - LOL.
To learn in this world of computers, it's by mistakes... unfortunately.

From a post in another forum
"I just spent the last few hours installing three recent IE security updates and the 5.01 update. Fortunately I backed up C: first because after these four installs SFC found four corrupted files, two .wav files in Sounds got messed, and Regclean thinks 10 of the entries MS just got through adding aren't needed! "
I've seen this post repeated 3 times today in a couple of forums. Doesn't give me much confidence in any MS software!

Quit your whining, right-click the reg file and select Merge if you feel you must. That's
what the reg is for isn't it? So you installed some software and regclean deleted keys just
added. Did it occur to you that this may have been a by product of the setup options you
chose? You didn't choose all the *possible* options so Regclean snipped the un-needed
registry keys. So what.
If you don't like Windows then you should switch to Linux. But I don't think you'll do that
because there will be nobody to hold your hand.
Btw the four "corrupted" files failed the crc check because they were patched. not corrupted.
As with cleaning the registry, so it is with system file maintenance. The best system file
checker is your own brain. Do a little investigation before spouting rash conclusions
