Problem:
Whenever you open an Explorer window for the first time after restarting Win98 you are delayed about 2 or 3 seconds while Windows rattles your floppy drive looking for a disk.
Solution:
Look under
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
for a DWORD whose value is
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:00000091
and delete that sucker!
After restarting Windows, Explorer won't seek for a floppy the first time its opened.
If you have not been able to disable Autorun for data CDs, this DWORD is the culprit.
Delete it. No more problem.
