View Full Version : Can I stop users from creating shortcuts
I have a network of win98 stations and I protect them with a piece of software called winlock which protects the registry and so on. The C drive seems to be a bit vulnerable as people can create shortcuts to it even though it is hidden. I cannot seem to find a tweak anywhere which can stop users from creating shortcuts. They do this by right clicking in the control panel and selecting new, then shortcut.
Any suggestions?
Best regards Mark

See my post regarding "Disabling Windows Update" in Flat Mode for a list of policy restrictions that will lock down your workstations rather nicely. You probably won't need all of them. You may even be able to get rid of winlock too. In fact I would replace it with SKIn98 Pro (Stealth Keyboard INterceptor Pro http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Hills/8839/skin984.html )
It records *all* key strokes and mouse clicks recording them to a log file which can be encrypted. Furthermore your users will never know it is running.
Can you say "YOU'RE BUSTED!"
