My Registry gets to big (about 18MB) on a Pentium 133 MHz. The result is, that a right mouseclick in the Explorer takes a long time to search throught the registry entries. How can I compress the registry?

IF YOU ARE RUNNING WIN98, boot your pc to a DOS prompt (hit F8 when you see "Starting Windows 98" and choose "Command Prompt Only").
Type EDIT and enter the following 2 lines.
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\SCANREG.EXE /FIX
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\SCANREG.EXE /OPT
Save this as "REGCLN.BAT" (Type Alt-F, Select Save As and type in the name and hit Enter. Then Alt-F Exit)
When you return to the DOS prompt type REGCLN and hit Enter.
When it finishes reboot your pc.
This procedure will rebuild the System registry (SYSTEM.DAT) and optimize it.
IT WILL NOT WORK WITH WIN95
You should backup your registry prior to this.
