Got a really annoying problem.A web site has set itself as my homepage, and I cant get rid of it.Every time I boot up the pc this web site has reappeared set as my homepage even though I have previously deleted it. I presume there must be some hidden command which resets this as my homepage every time I boot the pc up, but Ive no idea how to find it and get rid of it!Any ideas?thanks prestond (windows 98)

First do this, please:
Download StartLog.com from this site: <a target="_blank" href=http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Only_IE.html>http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Only_IE.html</a>
Doubleclick it, and it will generate a text file on your desktop that will list all the applications that start in the many places when you start Windows.
We don't need to see StubPath.txt, just Startup.Log
Check <a target="_blank" href=http://www.winguides.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=secwinnt&Number=56062&page=&view=&sb=&vc=1>here</a>
sorry Tony, i must have been typing my post while you were just adding yours

No prob! :)
That's a very useful link you provided.
But I think it's good to see the startlog first hand as well.
Often the culprit is right there.

The Startup.log didn't save on my desktop, I did a HD search but to no avai... what's wrong? (on win2k)
chrisfam,
The file is called <font color=red>StartLog.com</font color=red> not startup.log (as you called it in your post). Try another search on your HDD using the correct name.

Hello Nana,
I think what chrisfam means is that when he ran startlog.com there were no other files generated. startup.log is created and placed on the desktop, however, as chrisfam is running W2K this will not work. startlog.com will only work on W9x OS's.
prestond should be able to run it though has the OS is W98.

Nope.
It's strictly a report that enables you to see a little of what's happening on your computer.
Cheers, Tony
Thank you very much for your help.
