I need to disable the new command-choice that comes up when I rightclick on the desktop. I know how to remove the individual programs, but how do I disable the whole new-menu??

Intriguing question. I fooled around in the registry looking for any ShellNew key under the HKCR\.ext entries, as well as examining HKCR\CLSID for the desktop. I came up with zip.
You probably already know that to disable entries under the ruled line of the context menu (i.e., all apps, you just delete (or rename) the corresponding ShellNew key under HKCR for the file extension in question. I tried deleting the Desktop HKCR\CLSID\ContextMenuHandlers key to see if that dll finds all ShellNew entries, but it didn't work. I also tried deleting the HKCR\lnkfile\ShellNew key to see if I could get rid of the New Shortcut right click option. That worked, except I got a goofy dialog box that I had to click OK to, so again no luck.
On that basis, I don't think you can do it.
Regards...
