We have a W2K server that is occassionally off line. Users who log into the domian from client workstations (w2k prof) will recieve a roaming profile if they cannot connect to the server (rather than the mandatory profile they would normally receive). This generates several problems (e.g., user not accessing their files, etc). I also would see this as a security risk. Is it possible to disable roaming profiles at the client so if the server is down the client user would not be able to logon to the local client.

Hi!

You could try the following: From Administrative Tools menu> choose Domain Security Policy go to Local Policy> Security Options locate "Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available)" apply this policy and set it to zero. This should prevent your users from logging on to domain when DC is down.
