Hi everyone,

I have a LAN setup to share my printers, files, and internet access.

From one of my Windows Me machines, I cannot access files or printers on the Windows XP machine. The Windows XP cannot access the Windows Me machine and vice versa.

However, other computers like a Windows 98 machine can access both the Windows Me and Windows 98 machine.

On the Windows XP machine, it can see the Windows Me machine under My Network Places but when I try to access it, it says no permission to use it. On the Windows Me machine, I cannot even see the Windows XP machine. Both machines can ping each other though so the network connectivity is working.

Please help....

Thanks!!!

Hi,

I have the same problem. Have you found a solution in the meantime?

Did you create a user name and password for each computer? It helps in networking situations like this.

Next, did you create a workgroup for the network? Make sure each machine is in the same network.

NExt, in the WinXP BOx, open Folder Options in control panel and click on the view tab. Scroll down to the bottm and uncheck the "Use Simple File Sharing Option"

Next, you must create an account on the WinXP box for each machine that is going to access its resources. Make sure the account has the same login and password you use on your other machines.

my home network has an ME and XP computer on it.
You have to set ME to have client for microsoft networks as primary logon. Next on XP you have to set enable Netbiu over TCP this is located under your NIC properties, then under advanced.
Try this and it should work. I don't have accounts for all the machines on my XP and it works fine. Also need the same workgroup on both computers.
