Hi,

I have a networked computers with a system connected to Internet with DSL . Sharing is with ICS of windows 98. I would like to controll the bandwidth available to the networked systems ( clients), so that all systema have uniform bandwidth/Speed of Internet access. the clients are both 95/98. For example if the downloading speed at the server is 6 KBps. I would like to restrict the clients to 1 KBps, so that all of them get equal bandwidth ( available) irrespective of the usage. Even one client downloads heavily that does not affect the other clients or slows down its internet access.

You need a switch instead of a hub. a switch divides the bandwidth evenly among all nodes in your lan setup. A hub does not.

Unfortunately not. You can buy a decent switch for around 50.00. I purchased mine on ebay.com
