NT stands for New Technology. My guess is that you are trying to use WME drivers on WXP, this usually does not work. Have you tried visiting the creative website (http://www.creative.com) and downloading the version specifically designed for XP? Also try completly uninstalling the webcam from the Device Manager then plug the webcam in again, does Windows automatically detect the webcam (it should have the drivers in it's driver database). Also you could try the add new hardware wizard and set it to automatically scan for new hardware.

Paul pretty much covered it. I just thought I would throw in some extra info in case you weren't aware of it, to help clarify what was going on, maybe help you in the future.

You probably noticed how the forums here were grouped into Windows 95, 98, ME and Windows NT, 2000, XP. That is because the members of each 'family', 95/98/ME and NT/2k/XP, resemble each other in the way they work, but the two groups are totally different. So, as you have found out, there is no guarantee that what works for one group will work for another because of the difference between them. Windows 2000 and XP were based on the NT operating system so what is a problem for one is a problem for all a lot of times (conversley, what works for one stands a good chance of working for all, though this is by no means a sure thing) and the systems will often be lumped together in the reporting of the problem, as you quoted here.

As Paul pointed out, Creative has posted some XP drivers here: . If your drivers aren't listed and the action Paul prescribed doesn't work, webcams are cheap these days. The Video Blaster Web Cam Go (which has XP support) is $28 + s&h at <font"]www.pricewatch.com (http://www.americas.creative.com/support/files/xpdrivers.asp>XP)
