Welcome Screen of Win XP

I am using Windows XP Professional , P4 1.6 Ghz, 256 MB S RAm , Riva TNT 32MB , and Norton Antivirus 2002.

For the past one week , the windows welcome screen during the boot up
appears & remains static there for at least five minutes . Earlier it used to flash for a second only;
How do i solve this problem & also can some one help me get rid of this irritating"welcome " window??

To turn off the welcome screen
Control Panel>Users, click change the way users log on or off and uncheck use welcome screen.
