I'm having a problem opening certain attachments in OE 6.0 it greys out the attachment and won't let me open or save it. When I go to the security tab in the options window there is a check box that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus", it's checked and greyed out, so I can't change it, I've looked at Microsofts Knowledge Base and they told me to change settings in the file types (under folder options) so that it doesn't have a check next to "Confirm after download". This will fix the problem for one attachment one time and then reset the setting, without making a visible change to the file types settings. This, as far as I've seen only has an effect on .HTM and .GIF files (with a strong emphasis on the .HTM). Does anyone know what to do?

Vaulcul,

Under Tools>Options, then the Maintenance tab, is it set to the Restricted Sites Zone?

If so, open IE, go to Tools>Internet Options, click the Security tab, then the Restricted Sites Zone icon and click the Custom Level button. Check over all the options here. You may need to enable Active Scripting.

reghakr,

I checked the options in OE and it isn't set for Restricted sites zone, however I went ahead and enabled the active scripting and that still didn't change anything. Is there anything else I should try?
