Go to Control Panel/Internet Options

in the general tab click the delete files button.

next, go to c:\windows\temp and delete all the files that are inside the temp folder.

reboot

if no go then go to control panel/add-remove programs

double click on the Internet Explorer entry and select repair.

reboot

This does not solve the problem. By the way I don't think this is caused by IE. Can someone help me, please?

You say it happens when you install "programs downloaded from the net".

Does it happen at every install?
Do you choose 'save to disk', or are you selecting "Run this program from its current location"?

Are you getting this error as soon as you doubleclick the exefile you've downloaded?

What in fact is the extension of the files in question?

In short, could you describe one of these botched installs in as much detail as is possible, please?

bummer. Actually IE and windows Explorer are inter-related to each other and depend on each other code wise. It's always a good proactive step to repair IE when an issue may be related to it such as downloading.

As Tony directed, we need much much more detail Please

you can run sfc at the start/run box to check for corrupted system files.

* Tip

If you download using a dsl/cable connection your nic card drivers may have become corrupted thus corrupting your file downloads.

Another test is to have someone send you an attachment via email of a program you downloaded

Save the attachment and execute the install. If it's the same outcome then try:

Uninstalling/Reinstalling your nic drivers and test again.

or if you use a dun connection uninstall/reinstall dun.

Yes, it occurs as soon as I try to launch the program. I always choose the Save to disk option. The extension of the file is .exe

Some of the programs I tried to install but to no avail are like the setup programs for audiogalaxy and swish.

Download and install the latest version of MS Windows Installer: <a target="_blank" href=http:////www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32831>//www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32831</a>

Does that help?

I can install the latest version of Windows. Then I'd tried installing the setup programs of some programs I'd just downloaded both by Save To.. and Run from.. option but failed, the error message being the same.

Did you try the things Pat advised you to do?

Yupz I had done as he had instructed me to do so but I still get the similar error message.

FYI, I use a cable connection and I'd reinstall the NIC drivers.

For example, I was trying to install Audiogalaxy and I got this error message :-

AGSETUP0609 caused an invalid page fault in
module &lt;unknown&gt; at 0000:00000007.

Before you download and insall anything, do a CTRL +ALT+DEL and end task any other entries which are not absolutely necessary to keep Windows and your internet connection running.

Especially important to not run during the download and install are any Anti Virus programs
or utilities.

Hmm...I'd tried this too but to no avail. The error message is still the same and I'd tried downloading and installing a different program this time.

I'd recently downloaded a program to another computer whereby it was installed sucessfully. I then copied the same program to my computer but I still can't install the same program, the error message being the same.

Can you help me look into this matter? Thanks.
