I have a problem. Somehow the Autorun feature for my cd-rom drives in windows xp got turned off. I have a pioneer dvd-rom drive and an hp cd-writer.
So I looked in the registry and looked in
Mycomputer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro lSet\Services\Cdrom.
The autorun feature is set to 1. but there is another entry That says AutoRunAlwaysDisable. The type is REG_MULTI_SZ and the Data part says NEC MBR-7 NEC MBR-7.4 PIONEER CHANGR DRM-1804X PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-6324X PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-624X TORISAN CD-ROM CDR_C36.
I never put that entry in there, is there anyone who could tell how that got in there. The microsoft knowledge base mentioned something about Office XP Pro, which I have, and win2000, but I have winxp. Please help me.

Try the following:

1. At the run command type gpedit.msc
2. Under computer configuration select administrative templates and then system. In the right ane there is a setting called Turn off Autoplay. Ensure that the Not Configured option is selected.
3. Do the same under user configuration.

Try changing the setting to disabled and then apply. This may correct whatever is preventing it from autoplaying. You can also enable autoplay and then disable it.
