I have read that the fonts are part of main.cpl but if you are just wanting to have a shortcut to the folder then you just need to type "control fonts" in the run box to bring up the fonts folder.

This article provides some of the most common shortcuts.

Thank you Andy,
however, when i renamed the main.cpl to main._pl, which is what ive done in the past for '98, the main.cpl fle is simply recreated.
Is this usual?

Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it's usual but I would suspect it is a system maintenance feature of XP where the main system files are extracted from the cab files if they are corrupt or missing. This is only an assumption, maybe someone else will have a definitive explanation.
